PLAYBOIS is a meta verse space coming to life. Where the two performers Yann Slattery and Yevheniya Kravets are visiting and testing masc energies from a trans perspective.
Incorporating the TikTok trend ‚Never let them know your next move‘, Yann and Yevheniya went into embodying Non-Playable Characters that get moved around in space, fusing movement material from different GTA characters together.
Questioning where their impulses are coming from, the playbois imagine getting played by the dolls while transporting audiences into a parallel universe where trans joy reigns supreme.
Using the pole in the middle of the room as a central force, those hovering characters are getting attracted and repelled by inhabiting an NPC strip-space, but only for it to not work. Playing with the intimacies of being the Pimp and the Stripper simultaneously. Creating a moment where the mess is a norm, therefore assumptions remain useless. Striving for an ongoing confusion that can't be escaped.
Yann Slattery is a performance-clothing-object artist and pole dancer based in Basel. Their praxis often moves in in-between spaces and circles around failure – success, tragedy – comedy, (ir)relevancies, intimacies and un-forgetting. 'Dreaming together in trans Joy' as an artistic and personal life practice.
Yevheniya Kravets is a fluid doll working and living in Zürich in the fields of dance and performance arts. While exploring the political body, Yevheniya moves through various dance styles, practicing Voguing, Contemporary and Hip-Hop. Their works resonate from nostalgia and desire for change.
